THE HULK'S FOES, VILLIANS & ADVISARIES
Listed below are some of The Hulk's foes & enemies. Not all of the folks below are villians, nor are they all evil. Please keep checking back here to see who I have added. |
|
Gen. Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross
Gen. Ross is The Hulk's oldest, and some would say, his #1 foe. Ross has been around since Issue #1 from 1962. Ross is not a villian. He is just a devoted military man, a 3 star general, who considers it his duty to rid the world of the menace called The Hulk. The image above is from THE INCREDIBLE HULK #291 (January, 1984).

Col. Glenn Talbot
Talbot, like Ross, is yet another devoted military man who considers it his duty to rid the world of The Hulk. He is neither evil nor a villian. Even so, his beef with Banner & The Hulk is just a little more personal. He was the 1st husband of Betty Ross, who later divorced him to return to Banner. Talbot later died doing battle with The Hulk. This image is from THE INCREDIBLE HULK #258 (April, 1981). |

The Leader, 1st Time Around
Sam Sterns was a common laborer in a government chemical facility when a cylinder exploded bombarding him with gamma rays. Besides the obvious, The Leader had genius level intelligence, & can project energy beams from his brain. Like Hitler, The Leader is bent on world domination, only to be foiled by the raging ignorance of The Hulk. This image is from The INCREDIBLE HULK #224 (June, 1978). |
The Leader, 2nd Time Around
Yes, Faithful Ones, this is still Sam Sterns, a.k.a. The Leader. You see, his initial mutation wore off and he became just a normal human once more. Thanks to the help of the gray Hulk, Sterns was able to siphon off into himself the gamma energies from Rick Jones that he had just recently absorbed from The Hulk. The result was a "new & improved" Leader. This image is from THE INCREDIBLE HULK #343 (May, 1988). |

The Abomination
Of all of The Hulk's foes, The Abomination is the strongest. Emil Blonsky was a Russian spy posing as a member of the U.S. Army stationed at Desert Base, New Mexico. Blonsky was able to locate a gamma ray projector belonging to Bruce Banner, and he bombarded himself with more gamma rays that did Banner on the day of the Gamma Bomb explosion. As such, The Abomination is now normally stronger than The Hulk when the latter is in his calm state. But as we all know, the madder The Hulk gets, the stonger he gets. This image is from THE INCREDIBLE HULK #288 (October, 1983).

The Rock & The Redeemer (with The Leader)
Sam LaRoquette, a.k.a. The Rock, wears a rock-like exoskeleton which is under his mental command. Craig Saunders, a.k.a. The Redeemer, wears a battle suit with numerous weapons. Saunders was killed in his 1st encounter with The Hulk, leaving The Redeemer's position to be filled with a then believed to be deceased Gen. Ross, in a zombie like state. The person credited with the creation of these 2 is The Leader, pictured with them. This Image is from THE INCREDIBLE HULK #343 (May, 1988). |

The U-Foes
Simon Utrecht - Vector: Can move things around with his mind. Mike Steel - Ironclad: Possesses Thing-like strength. Ann Darnell - Vapor: She can changer into any form of airlike gas. Jimmy Darnell - X-Ray: He can emit any type of radiation. These 4 tried to imitate the Fantastic Four's space flight to gain powers similiar to theirs. Bruce Banner interfered, and they came back to Earth earlier than expected. This image is from THE INCREDIBLE HULK #254 (December, 1980). |
Half-Life
Half-Life is Tony Masterson, a former English teacher. He was killed when he got too close to a Gamma Bomb test site when the U.S. government was doing some test with the bombs. Even though he is dead, he is reanimated at night time as a decaying "zombie". Half-Life has the ability to siphon off other people's life force and life energys. This image is from THE INCREDIBLE HULK #234 (August, 1987). |

Mercy
Mercy is from another planet. She is not a villian or a bad person. She is simply misguided. If a person feels depressed, & that they have no reason to continue living, Mercy feels that it is her duty to fulfill their "wishes" and kill them. Gee, what a nice lady. This image is from THE INCREDIBLE HULK #238 (December, 1987). |
Tyrannus
Former foe of Merlin the Magician from King Arthur's Court, Tyrannus is one of The Hulk's oldest foes. He 1st appeared in The Incredible Hulk #5 (January, 1963). Tyrannus was banished to Earth's subterranean areas by Merlin. Finding the fountain of youth, Tyrannus has kept alive and his youthful appearance all these centuries by drinking from it. He has no powers, but is still bent on world donimation and the destruction of The Hulk. This image is from THE INCREDIBLE HULK #241 (November, 1979).

The Maestro
The Maestro is one of The Hulk's deadliest foes, namely because he IS The Hulk, or atleast The Merged/Professor Hulk, 100 years from now in an alternate reality. After countless nuclear wars, nearly all of the Earth's heros were killed off, except for The Hulk. He went just a little crazy seeing everyone that he knew killed off, & he became more powerful than ever when he absorbed all of the radiation from those nuclear bombs. This image is from the cover of FUTURE IMPERFECT, PART II (1994).

The Puffball Collective
The Puffball Collective is probably the most traitorous of all of The Hulk's foes. It's 1st appearance was in Issue #301 when 'Ol Greenskin, now a mindless monster, was banished to The Crossroads of Reality. The Collective, at first, pretended to be The Hulk's friend & companion, helping him survive his banishment & exile off Earth. It's true nature came out in Issue #308 when it tricked The Hulk to get it back to it's world of origin. Once there, The Collective & it's demon co-horts tried to kill The Hulk, only to be trapped on it's homeworld & destroyed by it's demon "allies". Madman
Madmad, a.k.a. Phil Sterns, is the brother of Sam Sterns, a.k.a. The Leader. Phil was in the same graduate class as Bruce Banner, and became an admirer of Banner's and his work. After Banner's exposure to Gamma Rays and his subsequent transformation into The Hulk, Sterns exposed himself to high amounts of Gamma Rays in hopes to become a Hulk-like creature himself. The result: Madman. Madman has superhuman strength, the ability to shape shift and to increase and decrease his mass. This image is from THE INCREDIBLE HULK #367 (March, 1990).
